This programme is designed as an introduction to the 4000m peaks of Monte Rosa. It is suitable for fit people who are new to mountaineering or have limited alpine experience, but it is not suitable for complete beginners who have never spent time in the mountains.
Participants should be used to walking for several hours over multiple days, be comfortable on mountain terrain, and have a good level of fitness. Previous 4000m experience is not required, but good physical preparation is very important.
The programme has been designed with a gradual progression: first acclimatisation in Alagna, then a first 4000m summit, followed by a technical mountaineering school day before attempting two higher summits.

DAY 2 27 August: Punta Giordani 4,046 m and overnight at Rifugio Mantova
After breakfast, the group takes the lift from Alagna up to Punta Indren.
From there, the ascent to Punta Giordani 4,046 m begins. This is one of the most accessible 4000m peaks of Monte Rosa and is a good first experience at altitude. 700 m vertical ascent. After the summit, the group descends to Rifugio Mantova, where we will spend the night in half board.
DAY 3 28 August: Mountaineering school day and overnight at Rifugio Gnifetti
This day is dedicated to basic mountaineering techniques.
Together with the mountain guides, the group will work on essential skills for glacier travel and high-altitude mountaineering, such as walking with crampons, using the rope, moving safely as a team, and understanding basic safety procedures on snow and glacier terrain.
After the training day, we continue to Rifugio Gnifetti for the overnight stay (half board).
DAY 4 29 August: Piramide Vincent 4,215 m and Ludwigshöhe 4,341 m – descent to Alagna
Early morning departure from Rifugio Gnifetti.
The route follows glacier terrain, with a steady ascent from Rifugio Gnifetti towards the upper Lys Glacier. The climb is not technically difficult, but it requires good fitness, a steady pace and confidence walking with crampons in a rope team at altitude.
After the summits, the group descends back to Punta Indren and returns to Alagna by lift.
